Description

More The Hobbit daemon!AU art.

Blurb about Oin and his collared peccary daemon, Aoiffe:

"Parasites," Aoiffe huffed, chuckling as she settled next to him, shaking her head as she looked across the camp to Bilbo. "Oh that was a good one."

Oin grunted, his hearing might have been fading but when it came to his daemon he heard her loud and clear. "Could have said something else, he could," he grumbled, as he stroked his hand over her short, course hair. "Though least it weren't me the King kicked."

Aoiffe chuckled again, remember the way Thorin had sharply put his boot to Kili's back when they'd been arguing against Bilbo's claims of the Dwarves being riddled with parasites while the trolls had been planning to eat them all. Shame none of them just had the common sense to agree with the wee Halfling. "Thinks on his feet, our burglar," she said, resting her head against Oin's knee.

"Aye," Oin agreed with a small nod, looking briefly at Bilbo, who was tending to his own daemon. "Good thing too." He patted Aoiffe's back and settled in to get some sleep, trying not to think of trolls and almost becoming their supper.

Aoiffe is a Celtic name meaning "pleasant"

Blurb about Gloin and his European magpie daemon, Terrwyn:

As a young Dwarf, after Terrwyn had settled, Gloin had often wondered why her form was that of a magpie. Such odd little birds they were. Chattering noisily and often for hours on end. It wasn't until he was well out of his younger years that he realized that Terrwyn's form fit rather well. He himself talked quite a bit and his brother, wife and son, would often joke that his daemon had settled in a form that reflected his personality quite well.

But where Gloin talked almost excessively Terrwyn was often quiet and reserved. She would perch on his shoulder, listening as he talked, nodding from time to time. She was the only one who did not complain about his tendency to say whatever he was thinking. She would just give him an amused look, her dark eyes twinkling.

"Chatterbox," she called him affectionately, laughing when he'd pull a face at the nickname his own mother had often used for him. They were quite the pair Gloin and his Terrwyn. A chatty Dwarf and a quiet daemon. Opposite sides of the same coin. They fit well together.

Terrwyn is a Welsh name meaning "brave fair one"

Aioffe: Excuse me, Archimedes...but are you talking to me?

Terrwyn: Uh-oh. Archimedes, did you just call Aioffe a pig?

Archimedes: So what?

Aioffe: Are you talking to me?

Terrwyn: You shouldn't have done that.

Aioffe: Are you talking to me?!

Terrwyn: Now you're in for it!

Aioffe: They call me...Mrs. Pig! Aaaaaaahhhhh!

Archimedes: Oh no. This can't be good. Gandalf help me!

Gandalf: Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Perhaps this will teach you a lesson in manners, Archimedes, and maybe this will teach you when to keep your beak closed.
