The First and Her Daemon by LJ-Todd The First and Her Daemon by LJ-Todd
So the title is a nod to the fact that Rose was the first companion of the series when it was rebooted in 2005.

Blurb about Rose Tyler and her Yellow-Fronted Finch daemon, Hyperion:

She watched him as he tried to soften the concrete around the bars with his sonic screwdriver. She doubted it would work and knew he doubted as well, but she also knew he didn't think Jack was coming back for them. She sighed softly, making certain neither he nor Kairos heard and reached up to gently touch Hyperion.

His little body was quivering with fear. "It's gonna be okay, Hyp," she said softly, fingers smoothing lightly over his fluffed up feathers.

"You don't know that," he all but squawked as his little claws dug into her jacket. "He's left us here to die! The Doctor's right! He isn't coming back!"

"Hush up," Rose said firmly, lifting him from his perch so she could hold him. "Jack will come back. Everything will be alright."

"Your Mum's right she is," Hyperion twittered as he turned in her hands and looked over at the Doctor and Kairos. "Mad you are. Bleeding mad."

Hyperion was one of the 12 Titans in Greek Mythology.

I would have given her a wolf, if only to keep with 'Bad Wolf', but that's just my opinion, though can I ask why you did decide to give her a finch for her Daemon? I'm curious :D

I did consider a wolf at first, but then thought it was too obvious.

I decided on the finch because of their flighty nature, and nothing against Rose, I adored her as a companion, but she did have a small tendency to be flighty but also because finches tend to pair bond and I saw that as fitting what with Rose falling in love with the Doctor and continuing to love him even after she was sent to an alternate dimension and stuff.
Yes, I suppose a wolf would be too obvious.
Right, that makes sense. :D
It would have been odd if the AU that Rose fell into didn't have daemons (or going by TV canon, did have daemons). Would her daemon have been unable to follow her during all her trips back and forth between universes.
Sorry, rambling, don't mind me

The rambling actually makes sense and raises questions that, should I decide to write a fanfic using my DW daemons, I'll have to take into consideration.

I'd like to think that her daemon, as a physically manifestation of her soul, would be able to travel with her no matter what, but there might be times that just can't happen.
Oh, good lol.
That's what I hope would happen, but I can't remember if Will Perry's daemon went back with him when he returned to his (our) world. It's been such a long time since I read the books and I didn't really enjoy the third all that much.
Anyway, I can't wait to read what you come up with in the end!

This is fantastic. I probably would have went with a cat *hint hint, wink wink, nudge nudge* but the finch works very nicely. Well done.

Glad you like it. And ahaha, I see what you did there :D
