Escaping Azkaban, swimming back to the mainland, took a lot out of both of them though Sirius forced himself to keep moving. When Ileana seemed to be falling a tad too far behind, pulling at their bond, he paused, turned back and grabbed her up by the scruff of her neck, carrying her like a mother dog would a pup.

When he finally stopped for a rest, in a heavily wooded area, he took the risk of changing back to his normal self, his dog form melting away though the exhaustion remained.

"Was this wise?" Ileana looked up at him, lying safely between his knees, her fur matted and terrible looking. No doubt his hair looked much the same. "Escaping? You know what everyone will say."

Sirius sighed, leaning back against the tree. "I know." He reached down, running his hand lightly over Ileana's back. "But...But this is our chance. Our only chance."

"What about Harry? What do we do about him?"

"We'll go to that little town Lily's sister lived, probably find him there. We'll...We'll watch over him. Just...Just until school starts again. Then...Then we'll deal with the rat. We'll get our revenge, Ileana."

Ileana whined softly, snuggling closer to him, both of them dozing.
