She stood, waiting for her chance to avenge Crixus, waiting for her chance to remove that little shit Roman's head from his shoulders.

Utet sat upon her shoulder, tense and quivering.

"Not much longer now," he whispered, watching as Nasir toyed with the Roman he was fighting. "Soon...Soon we will give our beloved proper tribute."

Naevia nodded, glancing towards where they were keeping Crassus' boy, the little shit Roman who had taken Crixus from her. The little shit Roman who was nothing but a child playing at being a man. Playing at being a warrior. A true warrior did not need to cripple his enemy first. A true warrior stood and fought his enemy head on. They did not wait for their allies to hobble the enemy and then deliver the killing blow. There was no honour in the little shit Roman.

"It is no easy thing," she whispered, Crixus' words echoing through her mind. "To cleave a man's head from his shoulders."

Utet went completely still. He understood what she meant to do. How she would take her vengeance and offer tribute to the gladiator who had loved and cherished them. Who had helped to make them strong when the Romans had broken them down.

"No," Utet said, pressing closer to her, his voice hard as the steel she would wield in combat. "But our beloved taught you how."

Again Naevia nodded, watching as Saxa began dragging the little shit Roman from the cave. She drew a deep breath. Now it would end.
