He was surprised to hear that the honourable Lord Eddard Stark had had a bastard. Even more surprised that he had never known that when it seemed to be the worst kept secret in the North. When his Lord commanded him to the Wall, to deal with the bastard before some Lord still loyal to the Starks decided to name him Lord of Winterfell and true Lord of the North or before word reached him of the apparent survival of Bran and Rickon Stark.

"This is suicide," Dejana hissed from where she hid beneath the collar of his cloak. "That so called boy is well trained. And he's surrounded by men of the Watch. We'll never get close enough to do what Lord Roose wishes."

"We'll see it done, Dejana."

She crawled out from beneath the fur of his cloak and glared up at him. "Have you forgotten the little Ironborn mentioning the giant Gods be damned direwolf?!" Her shriek reminded him far too much of his late mother. "Even if we avoid detection by the men how do you propose we get around that?! Or have you just conveniently forgotten what Robb Stark's beast could do to a man?!"

He hadn't forgotten. He still remembered the chill of fear that had rolled down his spine the night he watched the great grey beast rip a man apart with little effort. He steeled his nerves and looked down at his daemon. "We will do as our Lord commands," he said as he continued down the hallway. "As we always do."

Dejana huffed and crawled back under his collar, grumbling all the while about becoming food for a direwolf.
