Guy stood on the rampart, looking out at Vaisey's forces and tried not to let his fear, his pain, show.

Seeing Allan, dead, absent the ever vibrant Zlata, had hurt in a way that Guy hadn't the words to explain. Despite their differences Allan had been the closest thing to a true friend he'd had. Even when Allan returned to Robin Guy had still considered him a friend. And now the man was gone.

Vaisey would pay. With his life. If it killed Guy he would see that miserable snake pay for his crimes.

"You're doing it again," Nasira whispered from next to him. "Making that face. The scary one."

"Good." Guy reached down, lightly touching his daemon, his heart and soul, feeling her grief at the loss of Allan and Zlata. "It will be the last thing that piece of filth Vaisey ever sees before I send him to hell where he belongs."

"Guy..."

"Allan deserved better than that. He deserved...He deserved to live. To have a life. A family." Guy's hands shook. "He deserved to know that I didn't hate him. That I never hated him." A low, pained sound bubbled up from his chest. "I never got to say goodbye."

His knees buckled and Nasira was right there, pressing into him as he howled his pain to the darkening sky. She whined and licked his face, trying to comfort him, trying to offer support even as she too felt the need to avenge their friend.
