Agron watched Nasir sleep, knowing in the morning he would walk away from the man that he loved. Part of him wanted to allow Nasir to go with him, to fight and die along side him if that's what the Gods chose. But more than that he wanted Nasir safe and alive.

"He'll come to hate us," Gunda whispered where she was lying over Agron's legs. "They both will."

"But they'll be alive," Agron replied softly. "I'd take that over them being dead any day."

Gunda looked at Nasir's face and his tiny owl daemon tucked into his neck and couldn't help but rumble painfully at the thought of leaving them. Agron reached down and ran his fingers over Gunda's head.

"So long as they're safe and alive I'll do what I must," he said as he pressed closer to Nasir. "The world will survive with one less former gladiator but it would be a darker place indeed with Nasir's light and warmth."

Gunda did not reply, just rested her head against his knee and watched their beloved as he slept.
